Orange, Calif. – Westinghouse Digital said Tuesday it is shipping a 55-inch LCD HDTV positioned to attract value-conscious holiday shoppers.

Westinghouse Digital said it is shipping its VR-5585DF 55-inch 120Hz CCFL LCD TV that is expected to see a $979 street price during the holidays.

Model VR-5585DFZ ($979 estimated street price) features full 1080p HD resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate with MEMC (motion estimation/motion compression) technology for smooth motion images, three HDMI inputs, two component-video inputs and analog A/V connections. It uses CCFL backlighting.

The set has a host of picture enhancements, including 3D noise reduction, inverse 3:2 pull-down for flicker-free movies, three-way and selectable color temperature.

Also added are parental control, sleep timer and PC input.

Rey Roque, Westinghouse Digital marketing VP, said, “A superb high-definition HDTV in a large size shouldn’t be beyond anyone’s reach, and with Westinghouse it doesn’t have to be. Our new VR-5585DFZ 55-inch HDTV will bring a new level of entertainment excitement to more homes than ever, with the kind of performance and styling that consumers have come to expect from much costlier brands.”
