Offering 1080p resolution out of all HD connectors, including component inputs.
A - C
A method used for squeezing 30-40% more widescreen resolution onto a DVD movie. Widescreen DVD movies can present more of the original theatrical format with a superior image. Remember to adjust your DVD player output setting to 16:9 for the best video performance on widescreen LCD TVs.
The width-to-height ratio of a film or television image. If you intend to watch only traditional NTSC TV, then a 4:3 aspect ratio is a good choice. If you intend to enjoy widescreen DVD movies and look forward to enjoying HD programming, then a widescreen aspect ratio such as 16:9 is better. Westinghouse 30" panels have an aspect ratio of 5:3, which is between NTSC and HD, and provides the best of both worlds.
The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) is a non-profit group responsible for the development of standards for digital television. ATSC standards have been adopted in countries around the world (including the U.S.) for the broadcast and viewing of HDTV, the next generation of extraordinarily clear and lifelike television programming. Currently, digital ATSC transmissions are scheduled to replace all analog NTSC transmission in the U.S. in February 2009.
The ability to switch between listening to the main screen audio and the picture-in-picture window audio, without switching the video images.

Automatically switches the input source to the connection or activation of a new source device. For example, if you have a DVD player connected to your Westinghouse LCD TV, just turn on the DVD player while you are watching television and the TV will automatically switch to display the DVD player.
A digital tuner that receives clear (unscrambled) HD Cable TV content without a cable set-top box.
The range of red, green and blue colors that can be correctly rendered on a display. NTSC standards set a range of colors that can be transmitted. LCD panels that are able to display a higher percentage of NTSC color gamut are superior for watching television.
The brightness of a display at full white relative to the brightness of the display at full black. Because the black value is greatly affected by ambient light, some TV technologies calculate contrast ratio in darkened rooms. LCD televisions are superior at rejecting ambient light and maintaining contrast ratios in lit rooms.

Optimal day and night viewing.
A Digital Versatile Disc is a high-density compact disc that stores large amounts of data, especially high-resolution audio-visual material. Movies stored on DVD are higher resolution than those stored on VHS video tapes. Remember to adjust your DVD player's output to match the aspect ratio of your display for best results.
A Digital Visual Interface is a type of standard connector between the LCD display and a computer or other device. DVI images are superior to composite video and S-Video signals. Remember to set the output resolution of the computer or other device to match the actual resolution of your LCD display.
G - I

The newest Westinghouse LCD panel technology, designed to provide larger sizes, faster response times, better brightness, wider viewing angles and higher contrast ratios. HD-Grade™ LCD panels are superior to earlier generation panels used in typical computer monitors.
High Definition Multimedia Interface delivers high-quality uncompressed digital video and audio through a single cable.
A television set equipped to receive digital signals from an external high definition digital source, like a cable box, satellite receiver or tuner. Remember to adjust your set-top box to output 720p (the best HD resolution).
A TV feature that allows your TV to receive and view digital high definition programming transmitted over the air. An external antenna is required for the TV to receive the digital broadcast. HD tuners in the U.S. adhere to ATSC standards adopted by the U.S. regulators for high definition broadcast and reception. Some HD tuners are backward compatible, with the ability to manage both ATSC and NTSC broadcast.
A technology which correctly reconstructs movie films for display on a digital video device, adjusting for film production at 24 frames per second and digital video displayed at 60 frames per second.

This exciting patent pending technology developed by Westinghouse allows you to view multiple images simultaneously on a LCD display, creating the ideal digital storytelling experience.
An enhanced version of picture-in-picture (PIP). Multi-Mode PIP offers a variety of pre-arranged formats the user can choose from to display more than one image on a screen. Some formats are arranged to display simultaneous images from both a computer and TV. Others are organized to scan through many channels, leaving a snapshot of each channel to choose from.

The National Television Systems Committee is responsible for setting standards in the United States for the broadcast and viewing of conventional analog television. NTSC standards have dominated television in the United States for generations. Under laws enacted by the United States, NTSC standards are to be phased out and replaced with ATSC standards. Currently, analog NTSC transmissions are scheduled to cease in the U.S. in February 2009.

A Westinghouse technology that delivers DVD video to the screen using a direct path (the shortest path possible) and the least amount of signal processing.
Any method of displaying, storing or transmitting moving images in which the lines of each frame are drawn in sequence.
Q - S
Response time is a measure of how long a display takes to change the image. A typical LCD television is 2 to 3 times faster than the average LCD computer monitor. TVs with fast response times are superior for playing computer games and viewing action movies and sports.

Reduces artifacts such as jagged lines and delivers the highest quality digital image processing.

A Westinghouse LCD design that allows easy access to the TV's video source connections from both sides of the TV spine, eliminating cable clutter and keeping cables from view. SpineDesign™ also incorporates a single board to shorten the signal path from video sources to the panel for outstanding picture quality.
A legacy video input for some camcorders and VCRs. Better than Video In and Antenna In (channel 3), but an inferior choice for DVD. The cable is comparatively expensive.
